My point is that the story is good enough so there was no need to jump around with the quests. The 1st adventure in the core set happens in Mirkwood. No black riders, trip to Bree, no Tom Bombadil, etc. Then Dol Guldur... all this is supposed to be way before the story told in the trilogy (and the movie, incidentally, veers from the books a lot too, especially in flavor).

Probably all this is not that important from the game point of view, but it seems wasteful to leave the most important reason for anything to happen in the story up in the air.

I suppose most people who bought the game either saw the movies or read the books, so what I say may seem superfluous. Still, going down the Anduin would have no purpose in the lack of context given in the game.

But I think the game is excellent even with these objections.
