Hey all

Did my first solo run of the base game last night. I have a few questions.

1) It says choose 1-3 heroes at the start. I get the feeling this isn't a random type thing, and you simply place 1 to 3 of the hero cards down. What are the strategies/reasons to place a certain number of heroes down? (I get that placing all 3 down would raise your threat - is that the only real trade off?)

2) Basically, unless I want one of my heroes taking massive damage each turn, I NEED to have someone quest every turn, right?

3) If I use the optional 'encounter an enemy' rule, that just moves the enemy out of the staging area and into my face (ie, I don't get any special thing out of it, like being able to attack first?)

4) If the enemy neither encounters me, nor I it, there is just no combat at all that round?

5) I can't attack an enemy unless it first attacks me, right?

6) Is there an easy way to keep track of how many rounds it took to clear the quest?

7) For the first (basically tutorial) quest, I pulled the card stating to pull out any spider card and that I had to kill the Spawn to win. So I pulled out the Spawn card into the staging area and then took two rounds to kill it. At that point I figure I beat the quest, right?

Thanks for the help. I got this game for my LOTR-obsessed wife and she's already excited to play it (a first). But, as per our house rules, I need to learn how to play first and then teach her.
