Don't bother with the third scenario, if you are only using Core Set cards, unless you play with two decks.
The second scenario will be quite tough already, when you play solo.
The third scenario is nothing short of insane that way.
It is still very hard, when you have all cards up to date available.
With a Core-only solo deck, it is basically impossible (especially with any kind of consistency; you might get lucky once every couple dozen tries).
Using two decks works quite well, even if you play solo, and it gives you a lot more options for deckbuilding, since some aspects of the game only really work with two (or more) players (i.e. some keywords, like Ranged or Sentinel).
When using only the Core Set, the third scenario is plenty hard, even with two decks.
... and then use just core cards with the cards from each specific adventure pack to beat those scenarios.
As has been said above, that does not make much sense, since the cards in the Adventure Packs are meant to be played together (each pack only has a few player cards, so it's not much of a change, unless you use a whole cycle).
There are two other options, which should work better:
a) Use all cards from Core up to and including the specific AP.
b) Use all cards from Core and the whole cycle (and the appropriate deluxe expansion, in case of the later cycles; not applicable for the Mirkwood cycle, of course).
